FMWR Notice - Fort Shafter Library Closed Until February 2010
* The Fort Shafter Library will be temporarily closed to complete much-needed energy conservation and remodeling projects now through February 26, 2010.
* When reopened, the new energy efficient library will have new windows, central air conditioning, energy efficient lights and remodeled bathrooms.
* Any library activities previously advertised during this time period have been cancelled.

TAPS Hawaii Survivor Seminar
WHEN: January 22 - 24, 2010
PLACE: U.S. Marine Corps Base Kaneohe
* Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) newest program focuses on Battle Buddies. Military members who served with someone who died while on active duty. No one is immune to the experience of grief.
* When a Battle Buddy is taken away from us, we face the same trauma and grief as a surviving Family member.
* This program is a peer-based emotional support program. When surrounded by other Survivors with similiar experiences, Battle Buddies understand they are not alone.

Blue Star Event - Big R: Bunco!
January 22 – Tropics, Schofield Barracks
* It’s Bunco Time! Come celebrate another month of deployment complete with your Blue Star Card friends on Friday, January 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Tropics.
* Bunco is a fun dice game and is a great for socializing! It’s also very easy and quick to learn, if you don’t know how to play.
* Light pupus and childcare will be provided.

Blue Star Event - Create-a-Card
January 27 – Sgt Yano Library, Schofield Barracks
* Family Members of Deployed Soldiers are invited to create a Valentine card to send to their Soldier on Wednesday, January 27, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Sgt Yano Library, Bldg 560, Schofield Barracks.
* Bring your creativity and we will supply the materials!

* Blue Star Card holders can now check out 4 DVDs or CDs from the Army Libraries instead of 3!
* Present your valid Blue Star Card upon check out to receive this benefit.

Blue Star Event - Walk off the Wait
February 2 – Makapu’u Lighthouse
* Join us on our latest hike for Blue Star Card holders at the Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail, Tuesday, February 2.
* Free transportation will be leaving from the Schofield Barracks Bowling Center parking lot at 8:00 am and returning around 11:30 am.
* All ages are welcome and this hike will take place along a paved path. Strollers are welcome too!

FMWR Event - Earth Day Recycled Art Contest
April 22, 2010 will be the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
* To celebrate, the libraries will be hosting a 100% Recycled Art Contest.
* Enter your art made of recycled materials to any Army library or the Schofield Barracks Arts & Crafts Center by March 30.
* Contest is open to all ages.
